MAY
19, 2021
It’s that time of the month! (I’m on my period)
Here are my May Favorites.
(Sorry in advance, as I got a lot of new clothing this May)
Here are my May Favorites.
(Sorry in advance, as I got a lot of new clothing this May)
Tampons are dead. I have been using Flex discs for 6-8 months and they’re so much better (in my opinion). Seeing as I have synced up with the many vaxxed menstruators of new york city - this feels like a relevant May Favorite. They are scary at first, but revolutionary, a must try.
My Hermes agenda cover. The sexiest of notebooks. I bought this over quarantine, used it all summer, but once I filled the insert I was too lazy to buy another. That is soon to change, May is the month of resurgence and revival. It really is so sexy.
In the spirit of resurgence and revival I present my favorite bag ever. This was my first designer bag, I think I got it when I was 15? And I wore it every single day. It was retired for a bit, but ever since discovering I can tie the straps to each other and wear it as a shoulder bag, she is back and better than ever. Still my favorite bag, forever (I also have one in yellow). And if you’re wondering what’s in my bag, there’s a page for that.
Another revival! These were originally a very ugly slingback wedge but I cut the slings (if that’s what you’d call them?) and wore them as wedges all of last summer. This summer I recognized (faux) snake skin is not my speed, so I painted them with leather paint (and it worked!) now they’re hot (again) and a little dirty.
Reduce, reuse, recycle!! I checked a box of clothes out of the Jessica Lucio Archive this May and these were three of my unexpected Favorites. I love everything American Apparel, I truly believe there is no greater brand to emerge in the last decade. Thankfully, my mother has a plethora of AA clothing (see blue dress)(swear it’s cute on). I was sweetly suprised by this Mossimo Supply (Target) dress, I saw it on Facetime and thought why not, but wow!! It’s hippie mom sexy. The Volcom hoodie is soft and sweet, and so very thin - makes me wish I was in Baja.
Best sunscreen I have ever used. This is the 50ml, as I don’t believe in buying full size products if there is a smaller version (serial product abandoner). Every single one of you should be wearing SPF this summer. No excuses.
I have never been a flat shoe girl, especially not a slide girl, but I think that’s because ugg, fenty, etc. slides are ugly! Or because I am 5’2. Now, (with my new fear of early arthritis in the feet) I need to get on board with being a flat shoe girl on occasion! So this is my summer slide pick - sexy and comfy and I can wear them with trousers, three things I appreciate. This is also a 2 for 1 as nappa leather is a May Favorite.
This, as an outfit. American Apparel swim top (of course) and the best Levi shorts I “borrowed” from my great friend Alice Fischer. A really slutty walk through the east village in search of frozen drink to-go look.
The best of all time, with a little bit of tequila and lime juice? Incomparable. I accidentally ordered two cases of Topo Chico last summer and the rest is history.
The skirt to end all skirts, SS02 Gucci Tom Ford. I love it, it’s perfect, and it was worth every penny.
The RealReal is always running some kind of hustle - nonetheless, I had a $200 credit to spend this May. I have been looking for a good pair of frye boots for months. My Mom used to wear them on motorcycle rides when I was a kid and I love that they have a steel toe (for getting rough and tumble) this is the pair I finally settled on.
Summer of the wedge. I also got this pair of Donald J Pliner’s. They’re suede and they are the most comfortable heels I have purchased in years (God knows I need that) so I am considering my prayers anwsered.
And another Gucci Tom Ford skirt. This one is 2001, and it’s brown not black. Low waisted and a raw edge trim? For $75? F*ck me!
Hadalabo Hyraluronic acid. So supple and sexy. Myles Xavier says “put this on in the shower while your skin is still wet, and let it air dry.” It’s $12 on Amazon.
I have always underestimated Aesop skincare, but to my suprise - these two are fabulous. The parsley seed especially. Exfoliants kind of freak me out, but this one I can handle (for whatever reason). If you’re willing and able, try them.
Great little journals. They come in a pack of three and range of colors. You can get them at blick.
United Sodas of America, stupid name, great drink. These are my three favorite flavors. My taste and smell are still shot from Covid, but I can taste enough to know these are the three best flavors. If you see them, try them.
This caviar is the first thing I have been able to taste in two months. It was after I ate said caviar that I began to regain just a sliver of my smell. And no, I do not think that is coincidence, this is probably what the government doesn’t want you to know. Making it a May Favorite.
“Histoire d'un soir (Bye bye les galères)” by Bibi Flash is my May anthem. I have listened to this song 20 times a day for 20 days. Very May, very the sun is coming out and I am walking 9,000 steps a day. She’s awesome and I love this album cover, I also like her song “Jungle Jungle.”
“Saâda Bonaire” - a new discovery. I was at a funky house party the other night and shamelessly shazamed this because the youtube cover image was extremely cool, and so are they. Do not ever be afraid to shamelessly shazam.
btw - nobody pays me to say this shit, but they should, I have great taste.
