JUNE
18, 2021
It’s June 18th! And the June Favorites are in.
It is proving to be a grand summer.
It is proving to be a grand summer.
It is a Jif-June! I hated peanut butter with a passion, for years. After I had covid I tried a peanut butter and jelly sandwich, which was like the archetype of my hatred for peanut butter, but I actually really liked it. So now I lay in bed at night and eat peanut butter by the spoonful. I think it is a fabulous treat.
Why are we asking prospective lovers (and friends) “what’s your sign?” when we should be asking “what’s your attachment style?” Attachment styles are the new astrology! I have recommended this book to every person I’m friends with. It is really quite interesting and can put most of your adult relationships into context. Read it and report back.
Avène has been a longtime favorite. However, this June I went to my local duane reade to pick up another tube of the Cicalfate (because it is excellent) and I accidentally bought the cold cream (because they look they exact same..) so I figured I may as well try it. It is a little stickier, but equally moist, I recommend both.
I am also obsessed with all things held in aluminum tubes. The only products of the above that I can recommend are Weleda Skin Food, David’s natural toothpaste, and the tomato paste. But look at those tubes! I love them, it is the best packaging.
Unfortunately this does not come in an aluminum tube, but nonetheless, one of the greatest thing I have ever gotten my hands on. My dermatologist prescribed me Dapsone 5% about two years ago, but this month I picked it back up and put it in heavy rotation (three times a day). It dries out any sort of blemish, pimple, and white head in about two to three days. It is a life changing product. Prescription only so go visit a dermotologist.
While we are talking cosmetics, I will throw these in the mix. I am not a makeup girl, I cannot do makeup, I do not understand makeup, it’s just not a gift of mine. Despite that, I have been buying Charlotte Tilbury products since I was like 14 (I wore the gold bar highlighter every single day sophomore year) because her products feel very easy to use. The Hollywood Flawless Filter is new? and superb, it is the ONE. Very subtle, glowy, sexy, and moisturizing. As for the dewy set - I have never owned setting spray, but I tried this one and thought if there was a time to own one it is June and it is this one.
The best tea. I recommend a little honey and a little lemon. You can’t really go wrong with chamomile tea, but the yogi one goes extra right.
SOS on Avenue B is a godsend. We have all the spices and blends, my Dad uses them anytime he cooks, so I have become a big fan of her work. But this Yuzu Kosho paste is revolutionary. It is one of the best things I have tasted.
Because of the Yuzu Kosho paste my Udon noodle favoritism has resurged. You cook the udon noodles for 4 ish minutes, wash with cold water, top with the yuzu paste and enjoy. Best snack.
Another June snack - two bite chocolate brownies. I refute the name because I can stretch these little things to four bites, but that is beside the point.
I also discovered H Mart carries hanami dango. They were so good and I am going back for more. I love a sweet rice cake of any kind but something about them being on a stick...
This June I purchase an AA canvas bag in white (from Depop), my Mom had the red and the blue when I was a kid and I thought they were the coolest. Now I am stoked to have my own and I still think they are the coolest. American Apparel never missed!
Got this vintage Gap bag this June. It is texturally fabulous. I miss when Gap made cool shit.
This June I pulled my Kid’s sambas out of the basement and started wearing them again. They are timeless. They remind me of when I played soccer, and most imporantly (to me) they are comfortable.
Miu miu Spring 2006 ready to wear. I have spent the first 18 days of June thinking about this collection. Pictured is looks 43, 44, 38 & 26. I want it on my body, simply had to share.
Freedom Gallery and the work of Nick Farhi are undeniable June Favorites. Go see Babushka!
I have been thinking a lot about gelato spoons this June. They are very cute, and interesting. Kind of a waste, but gelato does not taste the same without them. Powerful.
Lupin on Netflix was my June show. They released part two and I finished it in two days. It is one of the best things on Netflix in my opinion. If you haven’t seen it, start it, and I am jealous of you because you have ten whole episodes to watch.
One Direction is an unsuspected June Favorite. After half a bottle of wine I was convinced to watch the “This is Us” documentary and ever since I have been enthralled by these five boys. I think this is my 1D era. Everyone has one, sorry I am late!
